Evacuation Kit – Part I – Just DO IT

evacuation kit

Even though we all know we would sleep better knowing we have an evacuation kit…MOST of us don’t have one!

Even though there may be different kinds of emergencies that will impact the decisions you make or action you take…whether it be a natural disaster, or terrorist/biological/chemical/radiological  threat, one of the MOST IMPORTANT things you can do to prepare is to assemble an Evacuation Kit or 72 hour emergency kit as well as have a family communications plan.

I did alot of research on this…and most of my information came from the official website, Ready.org… it is chocked full of stuff!  For example, you can learn about what types of emergencies can affect you based on where you live.  You can also see where every single state in the U.S. has been affected by a natural or man-made major emergency at one time or another.

One thing is for sure, no matter where you live, you are NOT immune to being a victim.

IT IS RECOMMENDED EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US BE PREPARED TO IMPROVISE AND USE WHAT YOU HAVE ON HAND TO MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN FOR AT LEAST THREE DAYS, MAYBE LONGER!

Does your family have an evacuation kit or 72 hour emergency kit that can be snatched in an instant….at this very minute?

If not, don’t become overwhelmed! Getting yourself & your family prepared in case of an emergency, takes less time and effort than you may think.

I have put together a series of steps for you to follow that will allow you to build your own evacuation kit or 72 hour emergency kit.

Can I make a confession?  Well, our family doesn’t have one either!  Why is that? Well, to be honest with you…I don’t know!  It is something that has always been waaayyyy in the back of my mind mind…bugging me.  I just kept putting it off.  I was probably like most people and think that it will never happen to us….or I will get around to making them before anything happens!  In my defense, I’m at least happy to report that before I was married I had  a personal evacuation kit or 72 hour emergency kit of my own.  I had a backpack full of all the essentials.  And I’m sorry to say that that backpack has been sitting in the basement for over 4 years now.

Soooo….. if you commit to creating an evacuation kit or 72 hour emergency kit, I will be right beside you doing the same thing!

Which is the first part of how to create an evacuation kit or 72 hour emergency kit:  JUST DO IT!

Make the commitment to create one for each family member today.  In the comments section below, let me know.  That way, by making the commitment, you will be held accountable….and you will be much more likely to follow through.

Don’t put it off another minute.
